How coverage works
Vision plan or medical insurance?
Eye care is billed two different ways, and which one applies depends on why you are being seen — not on which doctor you see.
A vision plan
Vision plans are typically a benefit for routine care: an annual eye exam and an allowance toward glasses or contact lenses. What is covered, how often, and how much of the allowance applies is set by your plan and your employer.
Medical insurance
A visit for a medical eye problem — an infection, an injury, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye — is generally billed to your medical insurance rather than your vision plan, and your usual copay and deductible apply.
The rules above are how eye-care benefits generally work, not a statement about your specific plan. Spectrum Vision cannot confirm your coverage or what you will owe from this page — call the office and we will check it against your card before the visit.
Not sure if we take your plan?
Call with your insurance card in hand and we will tell you what is covered before you book anything.
